as pastor. He has also served in staff positions as
an associate pastor and youth pastor. Robert still
has a heart for children and youth, and describes
himself as “still a youth minister at heart.”
His strengths in ministry are preaching, teaching
and leading. Robert lists his favorite joy as “seeing
the transforming power of Christ change someone’s
life.” Robert also enjoys an occasional game
of golf. Robert received his Bachelor of Arts degree

FBCTC is the third church Joe has served through his leadership
as Minister of Education and Administration. Before
he was an equipping pastor, he served as a Personnel Officer
in the United States Army. His gifts in ministry
are most clearly seen through his teaching, counseling,
and ministry to senior adults, although he can be seen
poking his head (and fingers) into just about everything
else, too. He loves getting to know families and
visiting members of the congregation, being the love of
God and the presence of the body, both in times of joy
and struggle. He is a humble servant, a gifted teacher,
and an incredible cook. He loves working outside
in the yard or garden, learning about technology, and
spending time with his family. His wife Brenda has
been his best friend and balance for more than 30 years
of marriage. His son, Joe D. is attending Univeristy
of Mary Hardin Baylor and his daughter, Jennifer is attending
Baylor University in Waco. Their house is also a
home for Brenda's parents, Don and Edna Stewart. |

Dennis
is on his second term here at FBCTC. His first
term from 1995-2007 saw excitement build through community
wide programs such as UPWARD Basketball and Camp Sonshine.
Both programs were facilitated by extensive student
involvement.
During the interim period, Dennis took on the role as
"Minister on Staff" at Carnes Funeral Home,
a family business that was established in Texas City.
He also served a short stint as Student Minister of
The Church at Centerpoint, a new church started in League
City. He rejoined the FBCTC staff in April 2009.
Among his talents are the ability to fill in when needed
in the pulpit, singing, teaching, and being a role model
for the youth. He is well-known in the community
because of his involvement and willingness to help with
many civic activities. His outgoing personality is appreciated
by all and he has never met a stranger. He
is excited about the future of Youth Ministry in Texas
City.
Dennis received his Bachelor of Behavioral Science from
Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. He
has served churches in Abilene, Dunwoody, Georgia and
Huntsville, Texas.
His wife Kelly was born and raised in Galveston and
grew up in the ministry of First Baptist Church of Galveston.
They met on a cruise and were married less than a year
later. They will celebrate 20 years of marriage
in June 2010. They have two boys: Christian (17)
and Parker (12). Kelly is a Speech Pathologist
for the TCISD and is also very involved in Student Ministry.
Dennis enjoys hanging with his family, whether through
coaching Little League or UPWARD Basketball, or through
mission trips or youth camps. He enjoys all sports,
and in fact, referees basketball and umpires baseball
in his spare time. He, along with Ronnie Hazzard,
also handles the play-by-play duties for Instant Replay,
a local video company covering Texas City High School
and other area High School sports.

John joined the staff of FBCTC in February of 2010. He has served in several churches in the greater Houston area. John's true calling and love is leading worship and growing music and worship ministries into effective worship leading teams.
John received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Central Arkansas and a Master of Music degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary.
John has been married to Marcy (Burleson) for 25 years. She grew up in the home of a Music Minister, so she knew what she was getting herself into!
They have 2 children: Aimee married Tyler Hennessee in 2009 and live in Shreveport, La where he serves as Contemporary Worship Pastor at Broadmoor Baptist and she works for The Hub Homeless Ministry. Emilee, is attending HCC and transferring to the University of Arkansas (Wooo Pig Sooie!) in the fall of 2010 and planning to major in early childhood education. Marcy would want me to also mention our 2 dogs, Annie (Sheltie/Corgi mix) and Radley (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix).
John enjoys all sports - particularly golf, running and ping pong. |
